10 Top Fitness Motivation Tips

It’s not easy to get up and go sometimes, especially with the demands of work and daily life. We’ve put together a list of ten great tips that should help motivate you, so let’s not hang around.

Change Your Routine

Boredom is an enemy of motivation. Take a step back and look at your exercise routine, then try something new. Perhaps get a bike and ride or go swimming. If you’re a regular at the gym try new machines.

Invest in New Gear

How long have you had those running shoes? They might be a little out of shape by now, so why not get fitted for some new shoes? Carefully fitted shoes are great for your feet and will inspire you to get out more, so have a look now and see what other gear you might want to replace.

Search for Apps

There are apps for everything now, and if you’re into technology then using a fitness app can be a great way of motivating yourself. You can find virtual online trainers – and even real ones – that will help track your progress and set goals, as well as handy menu apps and more.

Reward Yourself

Promise yourself a treat when you reach a goal, and you’ll have something else to work towards. It could be a meal out or a new toy, and whatever you choose you can only get it when you reach that goal. This one works every time, so set it up and go.

Advance Preparation

If you have your meals for the week planned in advance, and a board on which you state your exercise for each of the days of the week, you’ll be more inclined to get on with things. You can even incorporate the idea of the rewards into this one and run the two together.

Make Everything Exercise

When you drop something, perform a squat to pick it up. That’s the inspiration here, and you’ll find many more examples. At work, take the stairs not the elevator. When you need to go to the shop, ride a bike or walk. You can turn many of your everyday routines into exercise.

Health is the Key

Too often people who exercise do so to look better. Be different and work out to feel better. This way you’ll aim to improve your health primarily, and the cosmetic improvements will follow.

Dress in Your Gear Casually

Don’t just wear your stuff to the gym, wear it when you’re out and about. This will get you used to regularly dressing for the occasion, so when you go out for a coffee in your jogging pants you can drop in for a quick gym session on the way home.

Be Happy in What You Do

If you’re not enjoying your exercise you need to change it. It really is that simple! You have to be happy doing what you’re doing, so you look forward to it every time.

Get a Gym Buddy

Perhaps the best motivation of all is having somebody else motivate you, so find a gym buddy! If you don’t go to the gym, find someone to run, ride or swim with you, and you can motivate each other.
